Ishgard Fan Information

I started Ishgard Fan in July 2026 to express my passion for Final Fantasy XIV. While at that point I'd been playing for less than a year, the game had already captured my full attention. My mind was overrun with OC ideas. I wrote thousands of words in both prose and plain notes. I dreamed I was playing at least twice a week!

I have loved video games my entire life, including JRPGs and Square Enix titles. XIV is not my first MMO...! But still, my immediate attachment to this game and its world took me totally by surprise. Something about FFXIV just hits different. I think anyone who's played it will know what I mean.

Why Ishgard?

I am especially interested in Ishgard. The ornate French-Catholic aesthetic... The eternal winter... The dragons, the music, the drama of it all...!!! What's not to love?! Plus, Heavensward is where the story really picks up. Most everything about XIV was already fun, but the "Steps of Faith" quest^* absolutely blew my mind. What do you MEAN me and all my elven friends get to stand against a horde of giant dragons sieging the city?! IT WAS SO COOL!!!!

Even before that, I felt attached to Haurchefant (and Aymeric, to a degree), so I was eager to learn about the world he resides in. As it turns out, all my favourite characters reside in Ishgard. Every single Heavensward cast member is compelling because of their unique perspective on and role in the Dragonsong War.

Also I just really love turrets and Ishgard is turret central— both architecturally and warfarically.

^* Note for long-time players: they have reworked Steps of Faith to be a solo instance that is very dramatic and engaging. So it's not boring anymore, I swear!
